This conference is a comprehensive, four-day educational program addressing Digital Healthcare Imaging and Management Systems (DHIMS).
Mr. Martin’s two topics are:
- Storage Requirements for DHIMS
- Total Cost of Ownership of Healthcare Storage
Storage Requirements for DHIMS
The outline and objectives for this presentation are listed below.
Outline
- Storage and storage management versus archive
- Separation of storage and storage management from the other components of DHIMS
- Types of information stored (Images and Data)
- Storage Hardware — Devices, Media and Storage Infrastructure
- Storage Management Software
- Pricing Models
- Gain a conversational understanding of storage and data management technologies
- Identify typical information storage management technologies found within a healthcare environment
- Interact more effectively with information technology professionals, vendors and contractors
Total Cost of Ownership of Healthcare Storage
The outline and objectives for this presentation are listed below.
Outline
- The reasons why one should calculate the total cost of ownership (TCO) for storage
- The period of time for which the TCO calculation should be performed
- The components that must be considered when making the TCO calculation
- The factors that enter into the cost attributed to each component of the storage solution
- What are the options for disaster recovery (DR) and should DR be considered in the TCO calculation
- Sample calculation
- Compare the options of supporting the entire storage solution by the institution, out-sourcing DR and out-sourcing the long-term storage and DR aspects of the storage solution
- Explain the reasons for calculating the TCO for the storage solution
- List the components of the TCO for the storage solution and explain what factors impacts their contribution to cost
- Describe the process used to determine whether an institution should support the entire storage solution in-house or out-source one or more aspects
