Demartek to Present on Power Efficiency and 64-bit Technology at RMWTUG May 2008 Meetings
14 May 2008
Dennis Martin, President of Demartek, will speak about Power Efficiency in computers and about 64-bit Microsoft Windows platforms to the Rocky Mountain Windows Technology User Group (RMWTUG) at their May 2008 meetings. The Denver chapter meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. and the Colorado Springs chapter meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m. These meetings are free and open to the public.
“Power Efficiency is becoming of greater importance these days, as power consumption in data centers is gaining widespread attention,” said Mr. Martin. “With programs such as ‘80 PLUS’ and ‘Energy Star’, there are a variety of ways to use electric power more efficiently, from a single computer to the data center.” Mr. Martin will discuss the “80 PLUS” power supply efficiency program and energy-saving tips for computers.
“64-bit platforms are definitely the wave of the future,” said Mr. Martin. “Microsoft has stated their intent to move all their major server applications to 64-bit only. Increased memory space provides opportunities for improved performance, more efficient storage performance, and leverages virtualization technology.” Mr. Martin will discuss his experience with 64-bit platforms and will invite discussion from user group members on this topic.
